Living in a mini van has a lot more advantages then living in a car, or a box van (think typical contractor van)...
First off, living in your car, in the United States and Canada, is ILLEGAL! That's right, it's total BS, but it's illegal. However, the good news is that if your careful, and responsible, you'll never have any issues with the police. Most in fact would be sympathetic, as long as your not causing any problems.
Now, if you want to seriously live in a vehicle, a car just will not do. You cannot lay down properly, and you have very little space and privacy. You just can't get a good nights sleep in a car unless you take out the back seats and retro fit your trunk to lay down. This is possible, but not feasible. Another advantage of a mini van is it's inconspicuous. Nobody pays attention to your average soccer mom van. They are all over the road, you will never have anybody suspecting your actually living in it if your careful enough. When you sleep at night, nobody will be able to see you laying down, they will in a car. If you have a typical contractor van, those don't blend in as well as a mini van, and you may have police or paranoid neighbors investigate causing you trouble.
A mini van also offers more space to store supplies, has good fuel economy, and is relatively cheap to repair due to an abundance of parts. This coupled with stealth ability to blend in and not be noticed be police or snoopy neighbors makes a mini van the best choice when dwelling in a vehicle.
Now depending on your budget, and if you have any mechanical skills, picking a mini van to buy is tricky, so i will tackle this article in my next post in detail to help you find the best mini van for your situation.
